Our framework embodies a bite sized challenge and daily practice model approach to learning interior design. This top down methodology focuses on specific room types, interior style trends and core design skills, which are baked into our Room Makeover Challenges.

Room Types
Decor Creator specialises in each of the Room types required for an Interior Designer to confidently design home remodel or refresh projects. We publish a new 6 Room Home Makeovers each week and ensure that there is an even mix of Room types throughout the month.
Kitchens
Feature islands and the hottest new design features. Decor Creator also empowers Designers to create Pantries and Utility Spaces.
Bathrooms
Include en suites and boutique powder rooms. The latest stone, tiles, fixtures and fitting can be explored and appreciated.
Bedrooms
From master suite to guest and we incorporate closet designs from time to time to provide balance of Home Makeover type.
Living Rooms
Vibrant open plan living, or warm and intimate retreats. Designs evolve from anchor decor and trending stand out features.

Everyone knows that Interior style trends are always changing and evolving around the world. The pace of change is slower than fashion but there’s to question that evolution is constant.
We believe that the best way to learn is by practicing immersive design. Decor Creator is a zero risk way to design a room in line with the latest trends. Members can save designs and come back to them to understand still meets the enduring needs of the Client Brief.
We encourage Designers to make bold choices, while also considering the timeless nature of a designs. We believe that through employing some simple conscious design methods, rooms can be refreshed after a period of time without wholesale change based on robust initial design decisions.
Each Home Makeover reflects a definitive style or can occasionally layer two complementary styles together!
Decor Creator – Core Interior Styles
Modern Farmhouse
Cosy rooms with wooden floors and paneling on the walls, think soft sofas and cushions but with modern styling.
Japandi
East meets West design. Dark wood Japanese styling with the light simplicity of Scandinavian design.
Elegant Luxe
Think luxury finishes, marble, gold and velvet. Sumptuous designs kept elegant by avoiding clutter.
Scandinavian
Light, neutral rooms with light woods. Everything kept simple, paying attention to form and function.
Boho
Ethnic inspired design, with raffia and wicker work. Think dark browns and beiges, and plenty of texture.
Eclectic
Almost anything goes! Old and new furniture and different patterns of textiles put together. This takes effort to make it cohesive as a design.
Contemporary
Fresh, modern design. Keep lines simple and colours bright.
Mid-Century
Inspired by the 1940’s to 1960’s this design has angular wooden furnitre and circular mirrors.
Art Deco
Classic roaring 20’s design, opulant yet refined. Use peacock blues and golds to create a classic design.
We believe the best way to understand a trend is to get up close and personal with it using immersive design. This gives Designers a real grounding in the unique benefits and key considerations associated with each interior style.
Core Design Skills
The core interior skills are timeless but the efficiency and way that they can be learnt and applied has been transformed with Decor Creator. With each Room Makeover, Designers can develop an interior design core skill aligned with a specific Room and style for absolute learning relevance.
Colour & Material Matching
With each Six Room Home Makeover you will design with three trending paint colours and at least three trending materials. Materials may include wallpapers, fabrics, tiles, wood and stone.
There’s no perfect answer in interior design but there’s always a right answer. There’s no better way to find that right answer than through the trial and error journey of experimentation empowered by Decor Creator.
Decor & Furniture Sourcing
At least three of our Room Makeovers in each week will require decor and furniture to be found to complete the design. This gives Designers a great opportunity to experiment with anchor, secondary and finishing decor as incredible design often has an enticing mix of furniture from different product families.
Designers simply tap the decor item placeholder and are routed directly to the relevant product category within the Decor Creator library so finding the right decor becomes fun.
Product Placement and Layout Creation
This is pivotal to each design with final two Room Makeovers in each week requiring the designer to complete both a simple and complex layout challenge.
Ergonomics, zoning, anchor and secondary product placement need to be considered and adjusted in overhead view before the Designer fine tunes each design in immersive 3D.
Trending layout design options can be explored throughout the month before Designers apply their learning to personal projects by using Floor Planner to create complex layouts.
Collaboration & Support
We value collaboration and continuous learning so we share Pro designs each week to the “My Designs” section of Decor Creator so that Members can open, explore and gain inspiration.
These Pro designs are a great way to understand what’s possible on your journey of learning interior design. We have also created a Decor Creator Facebook Group, which is private so you can safely share your design submissions for feedback, support and celebration!
